Email the Orange County Board of Supervisors and let them know how upset you are with their decision to approve the Wilderness Walmart. Here are the four Supervisors who voted in favor of the Walmart:
Mark Johnson – rmj142@yahoo.com
Zack Burkett – zburkett@orangecountyva.gov
Teel Goodwin – Teel.Goodwin@vabb.com
Lee Frame – leeframe@orangecountyva.gov
And send a big thank you to Supervisor Teri Pace (tpacedist4@aol.com) for being such a strong and constant supporter of the Wilderness Battlefield and National Park and for voting against Walmart!
I can only hope that this Walmart will fail to be passed for this area.
My great-great grandfather served in the 1st Michigan Calvary, was captured at North Anna River Va. in 1864 and
died at Andersonville Prison in 1864. I feel that it would a great dishonor to all of the veterans both north and south to destory where they fell fighting for what they believe in.
Don’t kid yourselves about the 100 jobs….most of them will be part-time positions (under 20 hours) and all the management positions will come from within the company. Not only that how many of your long standing businesses will be hurt because of this?????
It sickens me to think that Walmart may be able to pave a driveway on the graves of my and other’s ancestors who fought for this country. These men gave their lives and their souls (and even their limbs) and Orange County wants to repay them by defacing this sacred land? It also saddens me that very few people even care that this is happening.
This is very upsetting to me. Isn’t there enough Wal-Mart within a 10 mile radius of this area? Yes, there are! So leave this sacred land alone! It needs to be preserved as part of this country history. I guess the people who want this Super Center built only care about money in their pockets and not the lives these men sacrificed for this country and our freedoms and liberties.
